As you may have expected, there's a lot of choice when it comes to lettering. Usually, old-style calligraphy is used - but you can pretty much choose whatever font you would like. Anything from bubble writing, to Times New Roman - it's all available to you. Commonly, lettering tattoos are used to create initials of someone or something that is very important to you. You can choose to have these as very large tattoos, which cover a larger portion of your body - such as the stomach, lower back, shoulder, or the entire upper arm.

If you're looking for a very discreet lettering tattoo of initials, then behind the ear is a common location. This obviously won't be very visible at all - especially if you have long hair. But at least you'll know it's there, and they may be all that matters to you.
